Overview

Impersonating a user allows you to temporarily sign in as another user. Situations where you may want to impersonate another user include:

  • Testing a configuration by impersonating your test account.

  • Testing an issue reported by another user with their permissions and account configuration, in addition to testing through your own test account. For example, you may want to test an issue that occurs due to the user’s client profile data such as invalid credit card or membership program issues.

  • Comparing between different users' sites, in addition to your own test account, to research and determine the scope of an issue. You can then add that any notations and screenshots to the Deem Support Case.

Impersonate a User

There are two ways to impersonate another user. You can use either:

  • The Impersonate option in the Edit User page, which allows you to also view account and profile details that may be required to open a Deem Support Case.

  • The Impersonate a User feature.

Impersonate a User from Edit User

To impersonate a user:

  1. From the Partner Dashboard home page for the desired site, select the Users tab.

  2. Select Edit a User link to display the Edit a User page.

  3. In the search criteria, search for the user or users you need to impersonate. You can enter partial search information to search for similar names. For example, you can enter W or Wil as the first name and N as the last name to search for William Never.
    Hint: If an account contains fewer than 200 users, you can select Search without entering search criteria to display all users.

  4. Select Search to display the Search Results list.

  5. Select a user’s name to display the user’s account information.

  6. Select Impersonate to open a new window with to the user’s Deem site with their identity. Your original Deem console page also continues to remain open.
    Hint: This feature uses a pop-up window and will not work if your browser is set to block pop-up windows. Most browsers will provide an option to approve pop-ups from a specific site.

FAQs

Do end users receive a notification when I impersonate their account?,

No, the client does not receive notification.

If I book a reservation while impersonating a user, is it an active and valid booking?

Yes, when you impersonate a user account, you are acting as if you are the end user. If you update a user’s traveler profile or purchase a trip, it is the same as if the end user

Can I impersonate a user account if the user has not signed in and completed the initial activation process?

Yes, the admin console bypasses the initial activation process, and gives you the ability to sign in to the account.  You will not see the activation pages when you impersonate a user.

Do I need to impersonate a user to update their profile?

No, unless you are updating notifications, such as flight status updates, admins can edit profiles for users with their own sign in identity.
