Overview

Groupware gives you the ability to integrate Deem with Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar:

  • Outlook is supported through Groupware Calendar Integration.

  • Google Calendar is supported through ICal.

You can integrate Deem services, such as booking travel, with your groupware calendars and contacts. For example:

  • When a user books travel, the service can automatically update enterprise or personal calendars with reservation details and changes.

  • If a travel delegate (arranger) books a trip for a traveler, the trip information automatically appears on the traveler’s calendar.

Calendar integration:

  • Eliminates the need for users to manually enter and maintain reservation information.

  • Ensures that the travel details are always immediately accessible.

  • Provides access to users with calendars on their smartphones, which avoids the need to print.

  • Provides updates automatically.

  • Saves time for a travel delegate or arranger who books trips for others by eliminating the copying and pasting into the traveler's calendar.

Calendar Permissions in Outlook

Deem does not read a user’s calendar. While the permission needed in Outlook 365 is Calendar.ReadWrite, Deem only 'writes' to the user's calendar. And at no time does Deem need to know what is actually in the calendar itself other than what is already written by Deem.

When an event is created, an EventID is assigned. If an event is modified or removed, a cancel request is sent using the EventID already obtained from the write:

  • If the event is present, it is removed.

  • If the event has been removed already, the cancel does nothing.
