Overview

As an administrator, you can create reference points, which are locations close to a user's destination that appear as search options.

  • Reference points help users search for common locations more quickly and efficiently.

  • You may load up to 5,000 reference points

  • Maximum file size is 10mb

  • Helpful hint: 

    • Keep a master file for each client saved as a .xls format

      • .csv removes formatting when you re-open.

Download Template

  • Click on Services tab

  • Click on Private Rates

  • Click on Sample Reference Point Template

  • File contains three tabs to guide you

    • Tab 1 - Template instructions

    • Tab 2 - Data field instructions

    • Tab 3 - Upload file

Create Reference Point Upload

  • Headers are case sensitive

  • Fields required except for Column C - Street 2 (optional)

  • Best Practice: Enter city, state two letter code within the Display Name column

  • Have client fill in all but the Latitude and Longitude

    • You can find the Latitude and Longitude by using the two sites provided above, under Useful links and information

  • File Type: .csv(comma delimited)

  • File Name: reference_points

  • Example:

Upload file

  • Click on Services tab

  • Click on Private Rates

  • Click on Add A New Reference Point Set

  • Set Name: Give name to set

    • Recommendation: Ref Points and the date

  • Click on Choose File and location file to be uploaded

  • Click on Upload File and Save

  • File will process and display a success or error response

    • Deem validates reference points to ensure that the data is complete and usable by the system before accepting them

    • Reference points are stored with longitude and latitude coordinates in addition to address

  • Example:

Update Service Rules

  • Note: Reference will not be viewable online until added to service rules

  • Click on Rules tab

  • Click on Service Rules

  • Click on Edit for each group

  • Scroll down to section labeled Reference Points

  • Click on drop-down menu to the right of Reference Points Set

  • Select most recent file

  • If you have car services enabled

    • Scroll down to Enabled Car Services with these options

    • Click on drop-down menu to the right of Reference Points sets

    • Select most recent file

  • Click on Save

  • Click on Save Priority Changes

  • Click on changes in the upper right hand corner

  • Click on Commit

  • YAY!! Upload complete

Test

  • Test to make sure reference points display properly

Additional Notes

In order to have different reference points for different groups of users, you upload a reference point file into a set that can be assigned to one or more groups. For example, if you have separate reference point files for Europe and Domestic (US), you can assign the Europe reference points (along with the Domestic reference points) to VIPs, but assign only the Domestic reference points to everyone.
